Liberal Education and the Fragility of Reason

i think attachment to these things has always been quite fragile. And so we know that thereis a way in which when our interests and our passions are joined, you know, we're likely to get pretty narrow. That's one thing that i think makes liberal education so difficult. On the one hand, you have this strange element of american conservatism that says, where attached this old revolution it that goes under the name liberalism. Another element of it is an awareness of the fragility of reason.
