The Pandemic at Rutgers

The coalition of Rutgers unions did pre-exist the pandemic and bargain over healthcare. The reality was that there was difficult histories, universities are extremely hierarchical institutions. Having all those job categories working together is important, but it can also create tensions. We created this people-centered approach to the pandemic by asking the most privileged in this case tenure-track faculty to sacrifice something for others.
