The Effects of Age on Women's Looks
After women were married, there's some sources that say, you know, you really need to keep looking good. Thomas Aquinas was the first person who basically said that wives should be able to use makeup to keep their husband's faithful. But older women were also ridiculed if they cared too much about what they looked like. The idea was that you should really cover your hair and go off and pray when you're older as well. And this is particularly true of widows.
