The Solar System Formation
We now feel reasonably confident that of having understood how came to be. We know that planets are common, this wasn't at all obvious. The standard model for planet formation involved a very rare, unusual event which was likely to have only happened a handful of times in the galaxy. Most of the systems that we've seen don't look like the solar system. And we're not quite sure if that's because of our limited observation ability or because the solar system is special in some way.
