Jesus's date of birth had been fixed at the 20 fifth of december, which you may recall from last week's christmas episode. The gregorian calendar shifted the old julian one by 11 days so in 17 52 there must have been some confused people who thought they'd lost nearly a fortnight to the 20fifth of march. Lady day moved 11 days to become the fifth of april. And this date has been retained ever since as the beginning of the u.K. Tax year.
