Khrushchev and Fidel Castro - The Second Leap Forward
Fidel Castro told Khrushchev that Cuba was ready to fight the US if they invaded. He then asked for help in writing a letter explaining what he meant by 'first strike' The two went through at least 10 different drafts of this letter, says Rudolf Anderson. But Fidel and Alexia weren't entirely happy with it so early on 27th October the situation changed again when U.S. missiles were shot down over Cuba.
