The Race and Gender of a Candidate Doesn't Matter in an Election
In general, there n increasing consensus that the race and gender of a candidate doesn't really have much bearing on whether or not they can do well in an election. Black candidates didt black male candidates in particular, we're the most popular among whites, even among white men. And so there's actually a benefit, according to our data here. That's not totally out of line with some of the more high profile examples of progressives in the last couple of years who have done really well coming from those sorts of communities.
