I think it's one of the great misconceptions that there were very few female writers from the middle ages. If you take the fact that she's a female writer, er that is surprisingly common. The past is often richer and more interesting than we give it credit for. There are amazing letters from the fifteenth century called the past in letters. They're unusual, but they're not impossible to find.
