A More Radical Approach to Printing Compressed Vocals
If you're recording a vocal with a greater dynamic range and you're trying to really level out those differences I would opt for a high ratio and a high threshold. Of course if you're more experienced with compression, Frederick Nordstrom as a Swedish rock and metal producer who prints vocals with between 20 to 25 dB of gain reduction from three different compressors. Just be very careful if you're adopting this technique that you're definitely pushing it towards your desired target sound.
