Is the Holocaust a Global Problem?
The majority were orthodox, traditional poor Jews living in what had formerly been the pale of settlement in the Russian Empire. So it's quite a different picture from the one that we see when thinking about the German Jews. The other issue I think is something that is much more recent in terms of the development of the historiography: We see that the Holocaust was actually a worldwide phenomenon.
