President Bill Clinton signed the Public Safety and Recreational Fire Arms Use Protection Act in 1994. The act also banned magazines that could accommodate 10 rounds or more. National Institute of Justice indicated there was a drop by 17% in at least six cities of gun crimes involving automatic weapons. And unfortunately it just expired and they were never able to get the votes to put it back into place.
