The KGB Smear Campaign

A classic example of a KGB smear operation against the West was the smearing and attempted blackmail. I've been quite interested in a classic smear campaign that you described in the book involving the conservative MP Anthony Courtney. So they set up a tourist guide who was in fact a KGB spy and they tasked her to ensnare Courtney and basically have an affair. They had these photographs of the MP with this woman and then they sent it anonymously to MPs, political opponents, journalists,. House of Commons, 10 Downing Street, basically to Smirim. Here is your MP and he's sleeping with Russians and all the rest of it.
