The Iridescent Weevil
A beetle that glows green has a crystal structure in its scales that's like the crystal structure of diamonds. University of Utah chemists think this is an ideal architecture for photonic crystals, which could be used to manipulate visual light on ultra-fast optical computers. We couldn't actually harvest iridescent weevils and use their scales because these are made out of chitin like your fingernail.
