The best thing you can do is to keep a logbook of your workouts and just chart your stuff. Certain exercises just have a higher propensity to make you sore. I think that training seven out of ten hard consistently is much better in the long run than trying to be a tough guy and go eleven out of 10 hard and burn out. Some soreness is inevitable, but we're trying to mitigate that as much as possible.
