Common Land and the Enclosure Process
Most manners, most people would have had access in some way to these resources. But over time, that access starts to become limited. Commons remain a very important part of the life of the poor throughout the early modern period. There's an increasing sense from the 17th century onwards that commons are a problem. And they're a problem partly because they are untamed wild land which really isn't a front to the nation.
