I try to think about something until it gets simple. If it's complicated, I think I don't understand it yet. Jay Forrester for one, absolutely unforgiving about any misuse of English or any equations you ought to be annotated and the units of measure had to match. To really understand how systems work, I think requires a lot of training. It's imperative to have some kind of an engineering background, preferably electrical engineering, preferably a servo dynamics to understand how systems worked.
