We're Fighting in a Boxing Ring

We've been living in a post constitutional society, entirely unmoored from the dock for decades. We need to stand high on the mount olympus of morals and ideals and abide by the constitution. Can you explain to me how that works, please? If it's a constitution, only one party abides by a constitution is, in effect a contract. You're in the boxing ring with 12 ounce gloves.
