The Government's Decision Not to Increase the Retirement Age
The Department of Finance forecasts suggest that the stand still costs of having an older population is going to cost us 8 to 9 billion in about 10 years. That's a large chunk of change and it's largely predicated on the government making the politically controversial decision not to raise the retirement age. On the other side of the ledger then we've got this big flow of corporation tax receipts. So obviously people at the Department of Finance are thinking well we could pay for these extra pensions bill with some of these corporation tax receipts provided they're put in a suitable vehicle providing they're invested wisely.
