Utilitarian Logic and the Singularity of Mysticism

I think the singularity is thought of as like this kind of innocent, cool idea where all like wouldn't it be nice for us to transcend the limits of mortality. I don't have a great take on why there's a real slippery slope, so to speak, when you start treating people and our world like quantifiable commodities. It gets very odd very quickly. There seems to be sort of this people who are very invested in understanding the world computationally and weird ass beliefs that somehow are catnip for them.
