The Language of Gift
The language of promised land in the Old Testament is foreshadowing the ultimate and greater promised land of the new heavens and new earth. The Holy Land was significant for Israel, but it ultimately pointed beyond itself to the ultimate goal, as you say, to thenew heavens and the new earth. And we actually have promises within the Old Testament itself about this expansion of the Holy Land to encompass the entire, the entire world. It's no longer in sort of spatially located in one particular part of the world; wherever the spirit and truth are, the Holy Spirit should be worshipped.
