Why Does History Matter?

In recent years there has been this liberal emphasis on historical inquiry as a way to, like, expose this country's original sins. This is the exact opposite of the left wing analysis of historical action. Like when you loyo, morality is necessary in your day to day life. But it has no real place in a study of how we got here because those people are gone. Those ghosts have fled. We have to look at it dispassionately.
