Eddy McCready was an inspirational figure not just for the young players that he had in his squad but also the supporters, a real figurehead. There was a loss of momentum after the how charismatic Eddy McCready had been and how all of that hope that had been channelled into this return to the big time. It's hard to really explain how the energy of us all was sucked out that summer. We did well for an hour then crumbled and lost our composure. Because we couldn't capitalize on the momentum from promotion when we ended up having to sell the better players because there was no money in the club. If we'd been winning they were the catch it together
