Authorities visited richard many times in prison to try and get him to co operate more, but it was fruitless. He adimately denied any involvement. For a period of time, they even monitored his phone calls in prison hoping to build a case against him. But as they listened to more and more of his conversations, they realized that something fishy was going on between him and a former inmate who was known to be a jail house informant. The dis very of this scheme quickly unravelled the case police were trying to build against richard. Detectives knew this plan would be used by a defence attorney in court if they chose to charge him with sindy's murder. So
