Is There a Relatively Low Relativity?
There is a large islamic minority in some parts of sicily, majority that remains in place. There's also significant pockets of a greek speaking orthodox right? So the normans themselves are what we now call catholics. The they follow the latin rihte. They speak french. But it's really a very slow transition of hundreds of years that eventually you move to a situation where there are no more, or almost no moslems left. It's quite clear this isn't actually like the crusades that will be happen only a few years later in the middle east.
