The Large Hadron Colide - The Greatest Spectacle in Physics
The large hadron kolider is a machine that aims to steer protons and electrons through a tunnel. The project was funded by britain, who were playing the 'bad man of europe' in terms of signing an anti-money laundering treaty with Europe. A scientist challenged another physicist to describe on one sheet of paper the mastric treaty - which they both did not win. But it got interest from other countries around the world as people realised how important higgs boson could be for particle physics.
