The Yangshao Culture of the Yellow River
The most well-studied and best-known prehistoric culture of the Yellow River is the Yangshao culture. More than a thousand archaeological sites have been found distributed up and down the course of the waterway since its initial discovery in 1920 by Swedish geologist J.G. Anderson. It is largely the area that the formation of what Chichang refers to as the Chinese megasivilization, with ultimately coalesce, beginning in the 4th millennium BCE.
