In 2001, when Stanley Druckenmiller was looking for someone to train him in global macro investing, he invited David Einhorn to meet with him. After a five-minute interview and some questions about purchasing power parody, the pair were hired by Goldman Sachs. In two and a half years after starting his PhD program at Harvard, Einhorn walked away with an economics PhD.
