Cromwell's Opening Gambit in His Quest to Outmaneuvre Anne
The trigger point is a conversation that Anne has with Sehenry Norris at court. Cromwell knows that Henry wants out of the marriage, but Anne is slightly reckless on this occasion. She makes a comment about him looking for dead men's shoes. So she is essentially saying, you fancy me, don't you? And because of the treason act, she has imagined the king's death.
