The Impression of a Naval Sailor
The first chapter of my book is all about impressment and how people attempted to evade and resist it. It starts off with this individual guy called John Nickel, who after the conflict wrote an autobiography of his life. He's such an interesting guy in all kinds of ways. So yeah, faced with injustice, people try all sorts of things to combat and resisting it. And I think Nichols is a really good example of how this one individual went about trying to avoid getting sucked into the Navy.
