Are You Confident That Dark Matter Exists?

There's a huge amount of indirect evidence for dark matter, but no direct evidence that it exists. We can measure the distribution of mass in galaxies, and it simply doesn't correspond to the distribution of the mass that we can see. The most popular view now is that it's some new elementary particle that is not part of the standard model of particl physics. But current limits on the cross section have gone down by many orders of magnitude - they still haven't found it.
