I Think It's Just a Throwaway Line in the Film That's a Little Bit Iconic
It doesn't seem like the strong statement that the whole script revolves around. It seems more like a throw away line at the somewhere in the middle of the film. Buty, i think you're probably right in that it's just a line that it ends up at the end as a call back to something the boss says earlier. I think the the more thematically resonating line is after the poker game, when turns out luke was bluffing you. He does have nothing. He has a bad hand. He prays for god to deal him some good cards finally. Because god hasn't been dealing him a good hand all he's been stuck with his bluffing.
