The explorer Mark Orel Stein set off to investigate sites and finds in the Tachlan-Macken desert, which is today part of China. His time at the beginning of the 20th century actually was completely unknown. There isn't that kind of exploration anymore but our eyes haven't been on certain places more than others. And you know, I think what still we suffer from, and this is only really being righted now in the very recent decades, is a fixation on sedentary civilizations.
