The Great Depression and Its Impact on China's Economy
On January 18th, 1915, the Japanese ambassador presents a document directly to President Yuan Shurkai. The document basically said in so many words, if you want a good relationship with us and you want us to recognize any future monarchs who have designs on making themselves emperor, you have to agree to these 21 conditions. China's economy grew at 13.8%. And of course the Japanese again, yet again, add to the already substantial accumulated enmity between themselves and China and declare an alliance with Great Britain. But that wasn't enough, you know, I'm fascinated to some extent with current Chinese views of Japan.
