Should It Be Raised From the Bottom of the Sea?
A plan had been drawn up. Next came the excavation. After they had outlined the whole of the outside of the hull and the Mary Rose Trust had been formed. We were then excavating in the actual Tudor layers and just bringing up stunning objects on it. Every dive you might find a unique object or something different that nobody had seen for 500 years or knew it existed. So that was tremendously exciting. There were challenges of course, partly because of the very, very low visibility in the Solent,. The mud that was actually protecting the ship under the seabed.
