The Importance of Compassion in Journalism
I think the best journalists are empathetic and compassionate. They come alongside their subjects, and they're able to allow them to express themselves in a thoughtful way. I find it quite difficult sometimes because I watch documentaries and sometimes I feel like producers or directors take the piss out of people who are quite quirky. If that person's invited to the comedy angle, I like, you know, that thing fair enough. But who are you to say that their life, because it's slightly different to yours is any better or worse or. And I think also, we need, we'll need a bit of weirdness. Like if the world has no weirdness to be boring then what is normal
