Isolementism as American Unilateralism

i don't want to sound like we're dismissing the significance of american isolationism, because it was certainly an important force in us. Society and politics at the time. Is though, it means something a little different than what maybe the term sounds like. Cause isolationism sounds like, i'm isolated. I'm staying away from everyone else. And that's not actually what the term means. What isolationism meant for the us. Was american unilateralism. So as long as the us. Has its own autonomy of action, then it can be internationalist,. It can be an expansionist power, but still be an isolationist.
