The Lapsis Ransomware Group's Attack on US Government
The cybersecurity incident is currently under investigation that involves a law enforcement agency. Supercriminal gangs are increasingly operating like professional businesses, according to Melissa Bishipping, director of Endpoint Security Research at Tanium. The landscape for cybercriminal jobs is competitive with new ransomware groups and data leak sites popping up constantly. SISA released an alert on June 30th regarding distributed denial of service attacks. Avast researchers have developed a decrypter for the Akira Ransomware, active in the wild since March of this year. It's available at no charge with instructions for use on Avast's decoded site.
