Charles Bruin was a Civil War veteran who moved to Burlington, New Jersey after the war. He led a quiet life getting along with his neighbors and attending church every Sunday. On November 9th of 1903, Charles Bruin disappeared. No one knew what had happened to him or where he'd gone. A man by the name of Alfred Woolman asked around town if anyone knew this man, Frank Johnson. The story wound up in a local newspaper but it wasn't until four years later that someone finally tracked down Bruin.
