I Don't Think Good Grades Equal Smart People
i tried an experiment last term in one of my classes. I didn't grade anything, and a i decided, i'm actually going to do this with smaller classes from now on. It's fair to do with a large class, citino, it requires a different approach to running a class. But what i decided to do was to drop all grades. So my students write papers, but they don't get grades on em. And they get lots and lots of comments from me on the papers. The other thing that happened was i had no attendance requirements at all.
