Is the Subpoena of a Former President Symbolic?
I think the committee probably wasn't entirely decided, but I also think they understood the historical significance of subpoenaing a former president. The Department of Justice is not going anywhere with this. And if they want to do a full accounting and a full reconstruction of what happened on January 6th, they need to hear from the former president. So it's sort of the missing piece that justifies the subpoena.
