An angel appears to Jacob and tells him, more or less, what to do. He peels back some of the bark from these sticks, making them spotted or speckled looking. And every time that Laban's flocks come in to get their water, he puts these sticks that are striped and spotted in the water troughs. It's by looking at these and then breeding afterward that they begin to breeze offspring that are spotted and striped and speckled. So it's an odd thing, a very odd thing.
