Car Addiction in the UK

Bicycles good, but feet are better. But because of our deep seated car problems, it's very hard for us to not view the bicycle as a kind of crap car, a a slow car. How does travel by bicycle change your experience, your perception of things, especially if you're travelling the same going to the same place? Va, different means.
