How Do We Know if We've Warmed Up the Planet?
The 'hocky stick' is based on temperature records going back thousands of years. It shows a strong warming in the last 100 and 50 years, with a slight hiatus during the forties. And then we have this big tail or big stick at the end, which is where we've actually started to influence a greenhouse gas composition, and therefore increase temperatures markedly.
