The drugs trade is massive, isn't it? And probably under appreciated as to how much it affects the world. We've had liquidity crises in in the global economies because of a rich flow of drug money being laundered through its institutions. But i think that really fits into the wider issue of the degree to which criminal economies as a whole are used by states. It just simply creates a whole new array of instruments that a state can, if it chooses to turn to.
