Surgical Treatment of Injectional Achilles Tendonitis

insertional Achilles tendonitis presents as posterior heel pain with potential progression to retrocalcaneal bursitis and progressive bony enlargement of the Achilles tendons insertion. Initial treatment is non-operative including physical therapy for a tight heel cord, shoe modifications, and anti-inflammatory medications. If conservative treatment fails, surgical treatment may be instituted.
