The Prophet's Zeal to Fight Ali

Amr ibn Abdu'ud jumped off his horse to fight Ali one-on-one. The Prophet ﷺ said it is Amr Ibn Abdu would somebody's got to do it and so the Prophet allowed Ali to stand up and and fight. When they got close Amr  jumped off his horse in an attempt to give him a blow to the head butAli raised his shield and the shield broke in half, according to another report.
