The Correlation and Causative Effect of the Opening to China
There was a sense that the opening up to China had much more significant domestic economic consequences than anybody had anticipated in the 90s and early 2000s. The other thing is that, you know, by their lights, China becomes much more assertive geopolitically and militarily. There are genuine conflicts of interest between the US and China when you look at things like Taiwan or East Asia security questions.
