Left activists dismissed concerns over crime to some extent in the late sixties and early seventies. A review pieace comes out on the heels of an american friend service committee report, which says basically, yo, you shouldn't put anybody in jail. It's a complicated argument to makea but it sort of opens the gate for saying that the system is at working.
