The Compromise Constitution
The compromise constitution was the basic set of principles that got north and south to agree actuall, to enter into the constitution in 17 87. The southern states said they wanted african american enslave people to count as full people for purposes of counting their population - but not to be able to vote. And northerners said, what are you talking about? If people of color can't vote, they can't count. They should count for zero. To day, we see the moral repugnance of the idea of counting three fifths an africans as a person.
