Four billion pounds has been set aside a to remove dangerous cladding from tower blocks in the wake of the grenfeld fire. Lease holders will be granted the right to sioux builders over defective flats for up to 30 years. But there is a loophole - it will cover only remedial work relating to cladding, rather than other fire safety issues such as faulty fire brakes or dangerous balconies. If i'm understanding this story correctly, the plan is to compel companies to pay sums that will fill the whole left by that four billion pound fund. So they won't be allowed to clar it by inflating service charges.
